Our Group Home for the Severely Persistently Mentally Ill is a supervised group home living facility for those who have severe mental illness and homelessness. Our group home, also referred to as the “Greenhouse” caters to adults who have been in and out of other programs with very little success.
According to the Substance Abuse and Mental Health Services Administration, 30% of the homeless population has a severe mental illness and are not receiving the stable housing they need to reach good health. A stable and supportive home is the foundation in which individuals can rebuild their lives and reach their goals.
Our group home provides rooms for 6 severely and persistently mentally ill individuals. Residents are provided with their own bedroom and share a kitchen, living room, and exercise facilities.
Many residents either volunteer regularly or obtain employment, typically within some of our other programs at the Council of Community Services. Residents also participate in cooking healthy meals for the group, share chore responsibilities, and volunteer at our Soup Kitchen each weekend.
