Meet Stasi Shippy

This WyoGives, Council of Community Services is sharing stories from the people who know the work best. Each story offers a different look at why local support matters and how every gift helps neighbors in Campbell County.

For Stasi Shippy, Council of Community Services board member and longtime donor, supporting the Council is one of the most direct ways to help people in need.

Stasi has served on the Council’s board since March of 2024, but her connection to the organization began before then.

“I have been on the Council of Community Services board since March of 2024, but my husband (Brian) and I have been longtime donors.”

When she and Brian were in a position to begin giving back, the Council quickly became one of the organizations they wanted to support.

“When Brian and I were in a position to begin contributing to organizations, the Council was at the top of the list. Also knowing Carma, the long-time director of CCS, helped me see how much the organization does for the community and those in need. I believe that everyone should have a meal and assistance despite what they are going through.”

That belief is at the heart of why WyoGives matters. For one day, communities across Wyoming come together to support nonprofits doing important work close to home. For Council of Community Services, every gift helps keep local programs available for people facing hunger, homelessness, housing insecurity, emergency needs, and crisis.

Why She Chose to Serve

For Stasi, serving on the board was a way to be part of a community effort that helps people when they need it most.

“I chose to work with the Council because I wanted to be a part of the community that is helping people in our community who need it the most. If you want to help out our community, the Council really is the best way.”

That local connection is what makes the Council’s work so important. The people who come through the doors are not strangers. They are neighbors, coworkers, families, and community members experiencing a difficult season.

Stasi described the Council as a place anyone can turn to.

“The Council is a place that anyone can come to if you need to. It doesn’t matter about your identity, what you’ve gone through in life, if you’re going through a hard time right now, you can come here.”

A Moment That Showed the Council’s Commitment

One moment that stayed with Stasi happened when the Soup Kitchen’s stove broke last year.

“One moment that really stuck out to me was when the stove broke at the Soup Kitchen last year. They could have closed for the day and not served lunch, but instead they worked hard with volunteers to not miss a day. Randi, the soup kitchen manager, brought a grill to do BBQ, volunteers donated crockpots and food, and so many people stepped up to help while it wasn’t working for weeks. It really shows the commitment of the people who work at and support the Council to figure out a way to continue serving people.”

That story says a lot about the Council’s work. When something goes wrong, the staff, volunteers, and supporters find a way to keep showing up. A broken stove did not stop lunch from being served. The community stepped in, and the work continued.

That is the kind of commitment WyoGives helps support.

Why Giving Matters

For many people, seeing a need in the community can feel overwhelming. You may want to help, but you may not know where to start. You may not have the time, resources, or ability to personally meet every need you see.

Stasi explained why supporting the Council matters in those moments.

“It is really a basic human thing to help out people who need the basic human necessities, especially if you have the ability to do so. Even if you know someone in need, you might not have time to cook 10 meals or find an apartment for them, but you can donate to the Council who is doing that. Supporting the Council is as close as you can get to helping people in need.”

That is the heart of this campaign. A donation to the Council helps provide real, local support through programs already serving people across Campbell County.

Giving Back in Campbell County

When asked about her favorite part of living in Campbell County, Stasi pointed to the opportunity people have to give back.

“One of my favorite parts of living here is that it really is a fortunate place to live. There is nice infrastructure, community buildings, and roads because of tax dollars. You can get a well-paying job even without an education. It feels like a place where anyone can get to a position to give back, even if you’ve used services like the Council beforehand.”
