Each month, our director, Mikel, shares a book recommendation for anyone interested in learning more about topics like poverty, homelessness, and community programs.

February’s pick is Maid by Stephanie Land. The book follows the challenges of navigating poverty and work while raising a child. For those who prefer, a Netflix series based on the story is also available.

This book is important because it helps us understand the struggles that are often hidden, such as low-wage work, housing challenges, and other barriers that affect people in our community.

This isn’t a formal book club. There are no meetings and no pressure. It’s simply an opportunity to learn, reflect, and gain a deeper understanding of the challenges facing our community. We're excited to hear your thoughts!
