Spring is here, and it’s time to get planting! The Grow A Little Extra program makes it easy for gardeners of all skill levels to make a big impact in their community. By picking up free seeds from participating Extension offices and growing an extra row of vegetables, you can help provide fresh, nutritious produce to local families in need.

The Council of Community Services is proud to support this initiative, which encourages home gardeners to share their harvest with food pantries. Fresh produce is one of the most requested—but least donated—items at food banks. Your extra tomatoes, zucchini, or carrots could mean the world to a family struggling with food insecurity.

Participating is simple:

  • Visit your local Extension office to pick up free seeds. Click HERE for location details.

  • Plant and grow your produce at home.

  • Harvest and donate any surplus to the Council of Community Services.

Not a gardener? You can still help by spreading the word or donating fresh produce from farmers’ markets or grocery stores.

Every small effort adds up to a big difference. Let’s work together to ensure everyone in our community has access to healthy food all summer long.
