March is National Nutrition Month, a time to focus on making healthy food choices and making sure everyone in our community has access to nutritious meals. But for many families in Gillette, putting food on the table isn’t always easy. That’s where the Council of Community Services steps in—helping provide food, support, and hope to those who need it most.

The Growing Need for Nutritious Food

Food insecurity is a real issue in our community. Families, seniors, and individuals facing tough times rely on resources like the Soup Kitchen and Food Pantry to get through the month. In 2023, the Council of Community Services:

  • Served 16,284 hot meals through the Soup Kitchen

  • Served 779 children, 293 seniors, and 81 veterans

  • Provided 3,128 food boxes to local families

  • Helped ensure that children and seniors have access to fresh, nutritious options

How You Can Help

This National Nutrition Month, you can make a difference in the fight against hunger:

  • Donate healthy, non-perishable food to the Food Pantry (canned proteins, whole grains, low-sodium veggies, etc.)

  • Make a financial contribution—Every dollar helps stock shelves, keep the Soup Kitchen running, and provide for families in crisis.

  • Volunteer your time—Help distribute food boxes, serve meals, or assist at Seconds on the Avenue.

Every Meal Matters

When you support the Council of Community Services, you’re doing more than just donating food—you’re providing stability, nutrition, and hope for local families. This March, let’s work together to ensure that no one in Gillette goes hungry.
